International Expertise
Our Managing Director, Darren, began his career in England, working for 12 years as an electrician specialising in high-end security and access control systems. In 1993, he returned to Zimbabwe and launched a security company during a time of political unrest.

The business quickly became known for its professionalism and focus on life safety systems — including alarms, CCTV, electric gates, and perimeter protection.

The Automated Security Story
In 2005, Darren hired his first staff member. By 2008, Automated Security was officially registered as a Pty Ltd company, with a growing client base that included Fraser Coast Council, Hervey Bay Airport, Wide Bay Water, Resorts, Builders and national contractors. In 2013, we launched our in-house gate manufacturing division, investing in CNC machinery to design and fabricate custom electric gates.

A year later, we added automatic doors, becoming authorised agents for Auto Ingress and FAAC. These additions allowed us to offer complete in-house solutions — from design to installation and servicing — across both residential and commercial markets. By 2023, we had purchased our new premises and grown to a team of 18, continuing to evolve with the region and its growing security needs.

Australian Beginnings
In 2003, Darren and his young family immigrated to Australia, settling in Hervey Bay and continuing his work in domestic security installations.

As the town grew, so did the demand for quality security — and so began the next chapter of what would become Automated Security.

A New Building, A New Era

To support our continued growth, we're constructing a purpose-built facility with expanded office space, meeting rooms, custom workshops, and an interactive showroom.

We believe the only way to guarantee quality, reliability, and punctuality is to control every step of the process. That's why we do everything in-house — from design and fabrication to installation and integration.

We only work locally, which means fast response times, same-day breakdown service, and minimal downtime thanks to our in-house stock of parts.

This new facility will help us continue delivering the high standards our clients expect — now and into the future.

As a family-owned business, we lead with care, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence. Our team of over 20 includes licensed security technicians, electricians, fabricators, gate specialists, and concreters.

All staff hold the appropriate qualifications — including Security Licences, ACA Cabler's Licences, and Electrical Work Licences — and undergo regular training to stay current with evolving technologies.
